Did you know you can use more than one bead at a time in peyote stitch?
2-drop and 3-drop peyote are a fun and fast way to build up peyote stitch beadwork, and it works great for larger projects like flat bracelets. It still has the gorgeous, supple effect of regular peyote but builds up much faster!
2-drop and 3-drop peyote use a similar method to regular peyote, but you’ll be picking up multiple beads, as opposed to just the one as with the regular ‘1-drop peyote’. It works as both odd-count and even-count peyote.
How to do 2-drop peyote
With 2-drop peyote, you will pick up 2 beads at once and pass through the next 2 beads as one bead. Danielle Wickes’s project, which you can see below, is a great example of 2-drop peyote and an excellent way to practice,
How to do 3-drop peyote
With 3-drop peyote, you will instead pick up 3 beads at once, and pass through the next 3 beads as one. This builds up quickly and is a great way to add shaping as with Danielle Wickes’ Bargello Earrings below.
