What’s so great about our Czech pearls?

Czech glass pearl beads from Jill Wiseman Designs

I’m SO GLAD you asked! LOL!

When Swarovski exited the DIY (including bead) market, one thing I didn’t fret about was losing access to their pearls. And that’s because I already carried a fantastic lineup of Czech pearls!

With over 40 colors in 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8mm sizes, the Czech pearls I carry are the result of careful research for the best quality non-Swarovski pearls I could find. These pearls are all handmade in the Czech Republic and as they are stranded to be sent to me, they are evaluated one at a time and all the bad pearls with not-right coating, or off-center drilled holes are thrown out! That means when you buy a specific quantity from me, all of them will be usable. No bad ones. I did not find this to be the case with any of the other non-Swarovski brands I tried.

Are there new glass pearls on the market?

Absolutely! Just this week I had a supplier launch a new line of glass pearls that very much imitate the Swarovski colors. I’ll probably pick up either that line, or the Preciosa line of pearls in addition to our wonderful Czech pearls. But the negative with the Preciosa line is they don’t carry 2 or 3mm sizes. And the negative with the Star Bright line of pearls that are so similar to Swarovski is they’re priced higher than Swarovski was. (When the supplier isn’t ordering the kind of quantities that Swarovski made, the price breaks aren’t as good.) I’m all about giving you choices!

But right now, the Czech pearls are an AWESOME option. And if that wasn’t good enough all by itself, let me also clue you in that I’m working directly with the people making these pearls, and I’m able to order custom colors! Our first (but definitely not last) custom color of pearl is this gorgeous Tahitian-look pearl. The first time I had them, we sold out in a few hours!! It’s taken me 3.5 months to get them back in stock, but now we have them and I want to make all the things with them! Make sure you get yours before they sell out again!

Hey, thanks Jill for the update. One time I got a 2-pearl sample of Swarovski’s Tahitian pearl color from a different supplier and I fell in love with it. I never did buy any for one reason or another, but I’m going to go look at your stash right now.
